Upcoming Campus Construction Projects
July 18, 2007

As part of the university's commitment to quality facilities as well as exciting steps toward the campus development plan, the following West Campus construction projects will begin soon:

Electrical upgrade - Starting on July 23, the electrical line west of the Felix Event Center and Building 1, running north south, will be put underground. Parking on the east and west side of the island that houses power poles will be eliminated for the duration of the project, estimated at one month. In addition, power to Building 2 will be off for roughly 4-8 hours when the line is switched underground. Power to Building 1 will be interrupted for 1-4 hours at that time. The exact dates of the shut off will be communicated later.

Parking lot light upgrade – Late July also marks the installation of 19 parking lot lights in the former drive-in parking lot. This project requires extensive trenching. Affected parts of the parking lot will be closed for the trenching and the construction of the lighting poles.

West Campus paving - All paving on West Campus will be slurry sealed and repainted. This project will follow the electrical and parking lot upgrades and take two work days and a weekend to complete. Schedules indicate a late August timetable.

Science Building - The southern 280 feet of the former drive-in parking lot will closed throughout construction of the science building. Closure will occur prior to students' return to and last from August 2007 through April 2009.

We appreciate your cooperation and anticipate outcomes that will reflect our commitment to excellence.
