M.A. in Education: Special Education Now Offered at L.A. Regional Center
November 28, 2007

For the first time, graduate programs in special education will be offered at APU's Los Angeles Regional Center.

Currently offered at the university's main campus in Azusa, students can now earn their Master of Arts in Education: Special Education, along with one of three different credentials. Course offerings now also include two combined programs, allowing students the opportunity to receive both a master's degree and credential.

At a time when special education teachers are in high demand, the university aims to meet this need by making these programs more accessible to teachers, particularly in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Azusa Pacific's special education programs are approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC), which authorizes service for elementary, secondary, and special education classrooms. Additionally, all of the programs offered in the Department of Special Education are accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

As one of the largest credential-granting private institutions in California, APU produces credentialed teachers who are professionally prepared to provide quality educational programs that effectively meet the needs of students in public and private schools, and who are heavily recruited by school districts throughout California and other states.
