Profile
Robert Welsh, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Psychology, chairs the Department of Graduate Psychology, is the Director of the PsyD and Coordinator of the Forensic Psychology Elective Concentration in the APA accredited PsyD program at Azusa Pacific University. Dr. Welsh also coordinates the dissertation process within the doctoral program. Prior to working at APU, Dr. Welsh worked as a forensic psychologist for the California Department of Mental Health at Patton State Hospital and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in emergency services at the University of Tennessee School of Medicine. Currently Dr. Welsh maintains a private practice in forensic psychology and psychotherapy. Dr. Welsh’s areas of practice include the detection of faking mental illness, violence risk assessment, providing expert testimony in court and psychotherapy with severe mental disorders. His research interests include the detection of deception, the assessment of violence, and psychotherapy outcome research with mentally disordered offenders.
