Library Services for Faculty
Borrowing Library Materials
An APU photo identification card is required to borrow library materials. Faculty, staff, and doctoral students may check out most materials for ninety days and may renew items twice. Media and Reserve materials have shorter loan periods. For more information, see the Circulation page.
APU faculty members may also borrow items from our numerous partner libraries through LINK+ and SCELC (the Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium). Additionally, Theology faculty members are eligible to borrow materials through SCATLA (the Southern California Area Theological Library Association). More information on these cooperative borrowing arrangments can be found on the Partner Libraries page.
Reserves
Faculty members may place volumes from the APU collections, personal copies of books and photocopies of journal articles on Reserve for the special limited use of the students in their classes. A Reserve Request Form must be completed for each course that will have materials placed on the Reserve Desk. Requests to have materials placed on Reserve should be made at least 72 hours before the items are needed for the Circulation staff to prepare the materials for use.
For more information on reserve policies, copyright guidelines, and the Reserve Request Forms, see the Course Reserves page.
Suggest Materials for Purchase
Faculty members may request materials to be purchased for the libraries' collections by contacting the subject specialist for their department, or by completing the online purchase request form.
Schedule a Library Instruction Session
Through the Library Instruction Program, librarians offer instruction sessions covering research strategies, information literacy, and online and printed resources. To arrange a library session, contact the subject specialist for your department, or fill out the online library instruction request form.
