Music Professor Receives Chase A. Sawtell Inspirational Faculty Award

AZUSA, Calif. –
La Verne, Calif. resident Rodney Cathey, DMA, professor of music at Azusa Pacific University, recently received the 2008 Chase A. Sawtell Inspirational Faculty Award.
The award recognized Cathey for his exceptional motivational skills while challenging students both academically and spiritually. He will receive a $2,000 award accompanied by a clock.
Cathey joined the APU music faculty in 1993 and is currently the conductor of University Choir and Orchestra and Men’s Chorale. His past achievements include the Fiske Memorial Tuition Fellowship from Claremont Graduate University and the Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers award.
Cathey holds a B.A. in Vocal Performance and Music Education, and an M.M. in Conducting, both from APU. He also received a DMA in Conducting from Claremont Graduate University.
