APU Hosts Francis Beckwith at the 16th Annual Common Day of Learning

WHO:
Azusa Pacific University’s Common Day of Learning features keynotes speaker Francis J. Beckwith, Ph.D, author, associate professor of philosophy and Church-state studies, and fellow and faculty Associate in the Institute of Studies of Religion at Baylor University, Waco, Texas.

WHAT:

The 16th Annual William E. and Ernest L. Boyer Common Day of Learning is a campus-wide event reflects the knowledge, interests, and diversity of the community through 56 open forums designed and hosted by guests, students, faculty, and staff. Regular daytime activities are suspended so that faculty, staff, and students can have an opportunity to share their recent academic discoveries with members of the campus and surrounding communities. This year's Common Day of Learning will culminate with a special presentation of The Bible Experience Live.

Wed., March 5, 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

WHY:

Since 1993, APU has fostered its commitment to scholarship–one of the university’s four cornerstones–by hosting a campus-wide conference dedicated to the commemoration and celebration of academic discovery. To promote a common conversation, this year’s Common Day of Learning is planned around the central theme of “Walk in Wisdom.”

Additional session highlights include:

Author and filmmaker Christian Smith from University of Notre Dame, along with film directors Michael and Timothy Eaton from Revelation Studios will screen and discuss Soul Searching: A Movie about Teenagers and God.
Prominent members from the business community will participate in a roundtable discussion on corporate ethics.
Author and illustrator Davy Liu will give insight into the process of writing for children.
Actress Vondria Bergen will perform dramatic reenactments of the life of women in the Old and New Testaments in a panel discussion on biblical interpretation.
